Creative Instructions on Burning Old Photographs (Here's to All the Women)

You can break a CD in your hands
Just be careful where the pieces go
Floppy discs and other photo plates
Are either way unreadable
I still have a jar full of receipts
From different parts of the world
The print's almost gone
You say it's a clean slate
But I think they're just old
So here's to all the women in my life
I'm sad for you
And also sorry for myself
I probably won't do much else
Than you've done
Or much more
And I'll be telling someone just like me
Of all the plans I had
Before I'm gone
Like you did before
And then they'll -
One of them wanted to see the plains
And my mother wanted to be the man
I wonder what's the greatest regret
That will have then
Because I've been so many people
Just not the ones I set out to be
And it's getting kinda late
Remembering what could have been
Is too cruel to me
So here's to all the women in my life
I'm sad for you
And also sorry for myself
I probably won't do much else
Than you've done
Or much more
And I'll be telling someone just like me
Of all the plans I had
Before I'm gone
Like you did before
And then they'll -
Here's to all the women in my life
I'm sad for you
And sorry for myself
I probably won't do much else
Than you've done
Or much more
And I'll be telling someone just like me
Of all the plans I had
Before I'm gone
Like you did before
And then they'll -
