Carnevale Della Morte

Left my home, running from a fevered dream
Hoping the night train will outrun the devil's scream
Train tracks, guided by the southern cross
Carry me, across that alpine border at all cost
On the platform, Adriatic breeze commands my soul
In the mist of Venice's lagoon, I find myself whole

Release me from this captive hold
Way back home darkness unfolds
Let me flee, recite my last goodbye
Underneath mediterranean sky

Alone I tread amidst the lively bustle of the street
Masks conceal eyes, each face a mystique complete
In dim-lit corners, gazes penetrate my very being
Beneath my mask, what depths are they seeing?
Amidst of serpentine streets, endlessly spun
My spirit explodes, trapped within cycles undone

Release me from this captive hold
Way back home darkness unfolds
Let me flee, recite my last goodbye
Underneath mediterranean sky

I stumble on, chasing my fleeting breath's flight
Yet too late, it catches, clutching at my back in the night
Unsteady steps, a journey through the unknown
Shadows grasp, again paranoia's seeds are sown
Near Ponte de'll Academia, a tranquil splash is spun
Surrounded by the festive fervor, where revelers run

In dawn's first blush, where the canal's whispers render
A silhouette appears, unfolding a ghostly splendor
Below the water's hush, a harlequin mask gleams
Its smiles caught in shadows, amidst lonesome dreams
