How We Came To Be
In 1789 we began our current run
Washington began to lead this nation
No political parties was the mission
By the founders with sky high ambition
Jefferson, Hamilton both resigned
Countered the constitution they designed
Control by a party became the new mind
Party now required or be left behind
No term limits
Plus no rules for parties
And a culture of me
Is how we came to be
No term limits
Plus no rules for parties
And a culture of me
Is how we came to be
Our nation moved forward and it worked ok
Till self-serving behavior began its decay
No term limits allowed politicians to stay
Self before country became the common way
200 years later these parties got the nerve
To deny the tax payers of what they deserve
Empower themselves with their actions they reserve
PACs, special interest and unions who they serve
No term limits
Plus no rules for parties
And a culture of me
Is how we came to be
No term limits
Plus no rules for parties
And a culture of me
Is how we came to be
Now the parties recruit you to join their war
Their fight on the news is what you can't ignore
Filling you with fear is what they have in store
So voter turnout will be a record more
Now the parties want you to think they are two
But colluding to stay in power is what they do
Locking out others so it's just their crew
Blocking ideas and faces that are new
No term limits
Plus no rules for parties
And a culture of me
Is how we came to be
No term limits
Plus no rules for parties
And a culture of me
Is how we came to be
Wooah, I'm confused (Confused)
Wooah, so confused (So confused)
Wooah, I'm not amused (Not amused)
Wooah, so unamused (So unamused)
Wooah, power misused (Power misused)
Wooah, so misused (So misused)
Wooah, power abused (Power abused)
Wooah, so abused (So abused)
Wooah, power abused (Power abused)
Wooah, so abused (So abused)
No term limits
Plus no rules for parties
And a culture of me
Is how we came to be
No term limits
