Hole In the Sky

Marianne told me her dreams were so high
That she couldn't reach them, so she never tried
She carries her necklace painfully tight
Now most of her dreams have disappeared through the hole in the sky

People in motion still wonder why
They're slipping and sliding though the road, it is dry
They've got no permission to open their minds
Got no permission to see through the hole in the sky

Using your heroes as a substitute for all that you'll never be
Mistaking amusement for attitude
Meanwhile, it's sad but you must carry on while the chance has gone

Some keep trying to force you in ordinary ways
They find it confusing if things get out of place
Maybe it's natural, maybe it's right
But I'll take a night walk and search for a hole in the sky

It's sad but you must carry on while the chance has gone

Marianne told me her thoughts were so sad
That even on bright days her pillow was wet
So she finished thinking
And counts the leaves on her curtains from the bed
Dismissing your dreams, well it might leave a hole in your head
