Small Victories

I'm growing tired in this game of life
The ever-present lows and highs
And no direction to be seen
Unknown where this road will lead me
My self-doubt has got me beat
White flag is up, I admit defeat
Criticized only by me
The old cliché, I'm my worst enemy
I fail to see
I gave my all, paved my own way
Paved my own way
But is it good enough?
When is it good enough?
Small wings still carry weight
To heights so great
But is it good enough?
When is it good enough for me?
We put the blame upon ourselves
When our life visions don't work out
When motivation starts to wane
Do your best and just maintain
The minor wins help me get by
It's not a lot, but it builds my pride
Count all the small victories
The catalyst to overcome defeat
And now repeat
Because we strive to be the perfect partner
The model son or daughter
But constantly, we fall so short
Of our expectations
To be a faultless human
With flawless execution
Don't beat yourself up when you fall
Because you're mortal after all
