In God's Eyes

When will you ever see my face
And not let my skin be the starting place
Don't expect my extended hand
If you can't see a man
How many of us have to die
For you to address and rectify
The way you serve and protecting
It's just not mentally connecting

The world is so tired of these abuses
All the denials and excuses
Staring you right in the face
And you still won't acknowledge the hate

What will it take for you to see us
Respect and embrace and really free us
Lord knows we are tired of getting beat up
Constant fight for the same amount of freedom
Tired of seeing our kids growing cold inside
From a nation of guns, drugs, hate and homicide
My religion shouldn't make a difference
Your social position is only pretense
We're the same in God's eyes

How could you be so arrogant
To think just because some benefit
That justifies having a system
That crushes the bones of so many citizens
Homelessness exists in every state
Hungry stomachs that won't dissipate
One fourth of children live in poverty
While you dictate wars and manipulate economies
You only care for the money that you wreak
Can't be bothered with peasants in the streets
Poor people, Blacks & Mexicans
Are just the underbelly from your muddy pond reflection

But the world is so tired of these abuses
All your denials and excuses
Countless generations despised
As though we're not equal in his eye

What will it take for you to know us
Recognize our pain and console us
Throughout the ages you have stoned us
Locked us in cages and disowned us
Why you hate these names Allah, Jehovah & Yahweh
They all mean the same when you're bending to pray
No religion should make a difference
Your social position is only pretense
We're the same in God's eyes
All the same in his eye
In God's eyes

Tell me what will it take for you to see us
Respect and embrace and really free us
Lord knows we are tired of getting beat up
Constant fight for the same amount of freedom
Tired of seeing our children grow cold inside
From a nation of guns, drugs, hate and homicide
Our religion shouldn't make a difference
Your social position is only pretense
We're the same in God's eyes
