Fading Light
In the city's neon glow, he soared with a heart of gold
Adored, but all alone
He saw corruption in their veins, their flaws, their bloodied stains
To be washed with acetone
He questioned every life he saved, the sacrifices made
And all the doubts that have grown
Like the tarnish on his soul, darkness that he can't control
They were talking in undertones
These walls are built so my fears can confide
There is merit to the life I keep inside
The shadow's casted black, so run and hide
I am alive while you die, in my fading light
Now in the city's neon glow, he sank with a heart of coal
A blazed and forged from steel
His fingers tracing along the lines, his eyes weak but wide
The image that becomes surreal
They whispered secrets in his ear, promised hope, love, and fear
Inner voices no longer concealed
Now embracing his second skin, feel the chaos come from within
His true colors now revealed
These walls are built so my fears can confide
There is merit to the life I keep inside
The shadow's casted black, so run and hide
I am alive while you die, in my fading light
Lines are blurred, mortality frayed
Wondered if heroes are meant to fade
A siren's song, we sing all along
Wondered if that's where we all belong
Fists are clenched, torn in two
Wondered the villain's point of view
A siren's song, we sing all along
Wondered if that's where we all belong
These walls are built so my fears can confide
There is merit to the life I keep inside
The shadow's casted black, so run and hide
I am alive while you die, in my fading light
Adored, but all alone
He saw corruption in their veins, their flaws, their bloodied stains
