Wildcat Charlie

Wildcat Charlie
Kept himself alone in a
Two tone double wide
Up on the hillside

People say he's always been around
Before there was a town here wildcat used to
Live among the sage brush
Hunting them white tailed jack rabbit caught em with his wildcat stare
And ate em up whole
And the devil didn't care no

Folks say he named the trees
Named the flowers
Didn't care much about the days or hours
Just sittin in a two tone double wide
Up on the hillside

Till a traveling man rolled up to him
With an alchemy bottle and a greasy grin
Well Wildcat Charlie just a ate him up whole
And the devil didn't care no

From that day on folks started coming round
For to try to get wildcat run out of town
Said a man like him is a troubling sight

What the folks don't
Want to see what they can't understand
Wildcat Charlie with his own two hands
Made the river run made the gold flow
Made a home for the self same folks below
But these devils didn't care no

That's when they
Brought in the cranes brought in the trucks
Brought in the businessmen with the business bucks
Knocked on wildcat charlie's door
Said we don't need your double wide anymore
That's just the way of progress see
To forget the one that named the flowers and trees
And to eat em up whole
And us devils don't care no
