Constellations

Do you remember
Sitting side by side
Gazing up at the stars
Pointing out constellations

Twinkling lights above me
Souls of the birds inhabit
Endless flock living within the trees
Where are you, if not within
Stars falling into your eyes
I have watched you grow and die
Cycle of life and death interred
Rot and decay become one with me

Passage of time, we are watching the water
A river carved through you, the birds find their home
There's always a path, but the way is obscured
I can hear voices whispering, guiding you to me

Restless, sleepless
I'm not alive
I'm just rotting
Nothing worth much
Guidance given
Nothing proven
I'm not alive
I'm just rotting

This is not a wish for death
Merely an open invitation
I do not care when you come for me
All that I want is to rest forevermore
