Swamp of Sadness

Spend my days in a haze floating around in the Marais
Nights under the bright lights at Mignon on Beaumarchais
Rouge wave gets me mumbling then tumbling it takes me
Bouncing and rolling like a cork lost out at sea
Endless nights that haunt and taunt eternal seemingly
How the sirens come to me
But they're not real just temptation in the deep

They all sing along to a luring song of prey
Melody washes over but can't make out a word they say
Tied my mooring line to wine but it snapped back from the fray
So I row against the undertow drifting, my anchor away

A drunken sailor lost and lonely in a sad and magic swamp
Saint Michel protecting me from everything I want
But darkness falls like thunder and that old dragon wins
Running around in circles trying to reach the end
Trying to break the cycle of solitude and sin
Here come those sirens again

They all sing along to a luring song of prey
Melody washes over but can't make out a word they say
Tied my mooring line to wine but it snapped back from the fray
So I row against the undertow drifting, my anchor away

Pull the wax out of my ears
Tie me to the mast headlong
My heart's free of fear so let me hear that siren song
Play it loud and sing it proud and make it last so long
Because the night goes on and on forever

They all sing along to a luring song of prey
Melody washes over me but I can't make out a word they say
Tied my mooring line to wine but it snapped back from the fray
So I row against the undertow drifting, my anchor away
