Ship in a Bottle
When you're a ship in a bottle
The glass that holds you feels secure
But with walls up you can't touch the water
And ships are made to explore
So maybe it's time I leave from this cage
But what if out there is even worse?
It's a risk I'm willing to take
Cause not knowing at all is even worse
So I push 'til the glass walls break
Then I'm swept off in the ocean's wake
And I am
Sailing on the ocean so free
Not bound by the bottle 'round me
Sailing as I take in the view
I realize I'm surrounded by blue
It feels like I've lost all my bearings
Cause everything 'round me is unknown
I no longer have aim or feel daring
And I drift towards whichever way I'm blown
Maybe I should have stayed in that case
At least there I didn't feel so lost
I miss that familiar and simple space
Seems this freedom is coming at a cost
But with freedom I now have choice
In what direction this ship will voyage
Now that I'm
Sailing I can find my own way
Catch wind and my doubts blow away
Sailing on the waves I now rise
And crash down under menacing skies
It looks like a storm is approaching
And I'm far from the safety of the shore
Soon turbulent swells start encroaching
Along with the doubts I had before
Maybe I should have stayed in that glass
Protected by safe and solid walls
I'd be sheltered while waiting for the storm to pass
Instead of out here amid the squalls
I shouldn't be pondering, "Should I have stayed?"
Cause back then the question was, "What if I strayed?"
I will always be wondering 'bout the choice that I made
The thought it was the wrong one makes me afraid
But the only thing wrong would be not to decide
So the fact that I made a choice fills me with pride
To chart a course and steer this ship is what I have done
As captain I'll navigate my journey to come
Now the storm comes and grabs me tight
And it hurls me with all its might
But I am
Sailing through a raging gray sea
'Cross waters feeling wild and free
Sailing as the storm fades from view
I set out to explore someplace new
The glass that holds you feels secure
But with walls up you can't touch the water
And ships are made to explore
So maybe it's time I leave from this cage
But what if out there is even worse?
It's a risk I'm willing to take
Cause not knowing at all is even worse
So I push 'til the glass walls break
Then I'm swept off in the ocean's wake
