Brand New Strings

Late for the interview; got turned away
Looked in the paper, but no one's hirin' today
Could use the money to fix up my old truck
Cuz lately all I'm ridin' is a bad run of luck
No need to worry
Things are sure to turn around
I been better, but hey, I'm still above ground
I hear they're lookin' for some help down at the bar
That's where I'm headed soon as I put down this guitar

How about these brand new strings? I just put 'em on today
Phosphor Bronze; medium gauge
They play like butter and ring so true
They lift up my spirits and sound so rich and so smooth

Doin' pretty good, livin' within my means
An occasional splurge on a brand new set a strings
Might sound crazy to you I suppose
It's just one of those simple pleasures every guitar player knows

Thanks to the County
I'm never strapped. And my friends; they got my back
A meal, or a ride, or a place to lay my head
Should-be lookin' for some work; maybe one more song instead

How about these brand new strings? I just put 'em on today
Phosphor Bronze; medium gauge
They play like butter and ring so true
They lift up my spirits and sound so rich and so smooth
They lift up my spirits tho they're hard to keep in tune
