Pizza For Breakfast

I met him on a subway
It's where we started to talk
He said he's going my way
I said it's s not my fault

He said he's got a hundred medals
All hung on his walls
And his wardrobes are numbered
He likes to know where things go
He's into simple pleasures
Likes to go for long walks
But his social media status
Says he's hopelessly lost

He's eating pizza for breakfast
Feels like he's losing control
He's never been so reckless
He's never been so wrong
He started talking to strangers
And on his morning walks
He's been walking backwards
He's been walking lost

Then he put his hand on my hand
And looked me right in the eye
He said his days are numbered
And so are mine
And at that point in conversation
It's when I started to see
That that perfect stranger
Is just scared of death like me

I'm eating pizza for breakfast
