Better

A young boy walks home from school
When the bullets begin to fly
A mother left heartbroken
She screams out asking why

CEOs live in luxury
While their workers can't pay the rent
Single parents working three jobs
But they still can't make a dent

We can make it better
Than we ever thought it could be
You know that we can make this world better
And we all know it needs to be
Let's make it better

Old men making all the rules
For a woman's right to choose
They say it's for morality
But it's more about making the news

We've elected people
Just there to toe the party line
They don't care if it's right or wrong
Or if their leader has a broken mind

We can make it better
Than we ever thought it could be
You know that we can make this world better
And we all know it needs to be
Let's make it better

At this moment in America, 14 states have taken away a woman's right to choose what happens in her own body
Hate crimes have risen more than 80 percent since 2015
Over 42 thousand people died last year from gun violence
More than 650 thousand are homeless
And 13 million children are underfed or undernourished
Meanwhile, the top ten percent own more than the bottom ninety percent combined
Their 95 trillion dollars could feed and house every human in need, if they were willing to share their wealth
We must use our global collective voice, love, and compassion for change
And we must never stop until all humans are free, housed, fed, and healthy

We can make it better
Than we ever thought it could be
You know that we can make this world better
And we all know it needs to be
Let's make it better
We can make it better
Than we ever thought it could be
You know that we can make this world better
And we all know it needs to be
Let's make it better
