Dementia Days

Woke up this mornin', forgot what day it was
But the sunshine streamin' in, gave me a gentle nudge
My memory's a bit fuzzy, like a worn out photograph
But there's love in every corner, and a smile on my half

Dementia days, they come and they go
Some things get jumbled when memories flow
But laughter is the medicine, it keeps the worries away
So let's fill these pages, with sunshine all day

My forgetful moments, they even make me laugh
Like hiding my dentures, or handing out cash
My caregiver chuckles, with a twinkle in her eye
We turn it all into fun, and let the good times fly

Dementia days, they come and they go
Some things get jumbled when memories flow
But laughter is the medicine, it keeps the worries away
So let's fill these pages, with sunshine all day

We'll color silly pictures and write down funny quotes
These precious little moments are the things life devotes
To cherish every sunrise and the love that binds us tight
Even on forgetful days, we can aim for a good night

Dementia days, they come and they go
Some things get jumbled when memories flow
But laughter is the medicine, it keeps the worries away
So let's fill these pages, with sunshine all day

Sunshine all day, sunshine all day
Laughter and love light our way
Dementia days, won't steal our joy
Even if they bring us back to being little girls and boys
