Hide

Say we're too slow, ill prepared
Running blind in the wide open
For too long, we been crammed in
Forgot our minds, just so we could stand it
The way out was simple
The fence snipped by our cloaked savior
One of yours, but a kind soul
Knew the wrong and took the risk and let us go

Out on our own
Into the wild
Going back home
It's been so long
We don't even remember how we lived
Screaming out to find our kinfolk
From the cages back to nature
Is this some kind of cruel joke?

They think were too dumb, devolved
Believe the farm to be a castle
And that we're pampered, serve a function
Its half true, but we've never left the dungeon
From a tight spot, in such a closed space
With no tag on in the open range
Fallen silence and chilled air
Perhaps could have been better prepared

Now that we're all out
We take stock
Of what we left behind
Hot food, warm bed
Loose chains secured and certain death

Out on our own
Into the wild
Going back home
Its been so long
We don't even remember how we lived
Screaming out to find our kinfolk
From the cages back to nature
Survival is a cruel joke

Toss away the meat
Enjoy the coat
Skin the shirt off of our backs
I hope it keeps you from getting cold
