Rolling Down the Line

We are all on a journey
The rails of our lives
And each person is a passenger that aids and abides
And each car is a memory that lends in the ride
And the train keeps rolling down the line

Every car holds one person of our former being
With their pockets pulled out empty
And teardrops on their sleeve
But each car holds a window to bring them the light
And the train keeps on rolling down the line

I keep rockin' and I'm holding all the people that I meet
When it's dark in the carriage
Sing them softly to sleep
When they wake up in the morning back to coffee and tea
While the train keeps rolling down the line

People come and they go
As for me I don't mind
With the seasons come new changes
Stay as long as you'd like
But we've all got our ticket with a date and a time
And the train keeps rolling down the line

We are all on a journey
The rails of our lives
And each person is a passenger that aids and abides
And each car is a new memory that's what makes it a ride
And the train keeps rolling down the line
And the train keeps rolling down the line
