Last Poker Game

There were seven around, all from in town, and cigar smoke in the air
When he sees a straight flush, he gets a memory rush of the good times they had there
When their wives would call, they'd say we're down at the hall, be home with milk by nine
Then hang up the phone, sly grin, carry on and play poker all through the night
It was the time of their lives hanging out with the guys, but as they say, such is life
One-by-one as time went on, the ante became too light

He is the last player in town; he is the last player around
Everybody knows his name cause he goes all-in every game
And if you ask big john why he'll say, "cause this could be last your poker game"

They'd swear and fight, throw cards at the light, then hug and say get home safe my friend
Then wake the next day with awful headaches, and do it all over again
With all the spills, the burn holes and thrills, oh the stories the felt could tell
But it never got dust cause in poker, they trusted just like in the cards they held
If he could've bottled it all, all those nights at the hall, he'd keep it close to his heart
Special times to savor, but like a good player, he'll never show his cards
