The Island Call

Gentle strums of a distant shore,
London's grey, and my heart wants more.
Echoes whisper of a youthful quest,
In the shadows of an island's rest.

In the heart of London, far from the bay,
A man in his forties, reflecting on the day.
Golden sands and the pirate's song,
A boy once brave, now the years feel long.

Silver's laughter in the wind so wild,
The thrill of treasure, when I was a child.
But shadows grew where the gold did gleam,
Now haunt my nights, my every dream.

Echoes of the island call,
Through the years, I've seen it all.
Thrill and fear, the cannon's roar,
Lost in time, forevermore.

Innocence lost on that distant shore,
The blood that spilled, I can't ignore.
Friends and foes, in the same grave lie,
Their faces fade but I still hear their cries.

I close my eyes and I see the sails,
The pirate's life in vivid tales.
Long John's gaze and the secret map,
I hold the past in a tattered scrap.

Echoes of the island call,
Through the years, I've seen it all.
Thrill and fear, the cannon's roar,
Lost in time, forevermore.

Back in London's fog, I walk alone,
A haunted man, with sins to atone.
The boy who left, the man who came,
Bound by gold, and the pirate's name.

Now the waves are far, and the seas have stilled,
My heart with the island, forever filled.
In every whisper of the London night,
Echoes of the island, take their flight.

Echoes of the island call,
Through the years, I've seen it all.
Thrill and fear, the cannon's roar,
Lost in time, forevermore.

(Thrill and fear, the cannon's roar)
(Lost in time, forever more!)
