Sunglasses

You're like my favorite pair of sunglasses
I wore you out during Summer classes
Someone pulled you off my face
And put them on they must have gotten misplaced
I ran and rode
I hunted far
From coast to coast
To found out where you are
I got back home
I scored a job
I lined my pockets
The search was back on
I placed some calls
And worked online
Swear it never felt
Like a waste of time
When I close my eyes
Or weather does that thing
When you suddenly remember everything, and you

I've got it all figured out right?
Look at what I left behind

Nothing at all
A story
A bad taste in my mouth from this morning
It is irrelevant to the lifestyle
That you've taken up, and it lacks the sparkle
I can't feel that drive
I've lost that yearn
Don't know if it'll come back
So now's your turn
I guess there is a point
I've found the cure
Saw the real perspective
I'm amateur, and you

(Once again) you've got it all figured out right?
Look at what you left behind

There's a million grays between your black and white
If you don't see a bit more color than you'll never make it out alive
And I'll never stop trying please there's no need to cry
I'm sure you'll get it after the forty seventh try
