The Death's Head Casino
I was in Cincinnati on business
For a few weeks during March
Decided on a Saturday morning
To drive and see the St. Louis Arch
Should take only 5 or 6 hours
I filled the tank with gas
Never thought that this trip
Would be my last
Had a close call with a reckless driver
He ignored me and sped on by
Took the next exit off to clear my head
And a sign there caught my eye
It was for the Death's Head Casino
13 miles ahead on the right
I got there in around 20 minutes
I walked in and got a room for the night
I headed to the tables for blackjack
My luck seemed to hit a good stride
Doubled-Down on 11 and Split all my 8's
Moved on before my luck could run dry
Walked to a crowded craps table
So many people gathered around
But even when good things happened
The winners barely made a sound
Such a strange place, the Death's Head Casino
It was the luckiest I've ever been
Kept on winning no matter what I played
But a bad feeling was sinking in
I won chips at every table
Was the craziest day I ever had
But the things I thought I saw out of the corner of my eye
Made me think that I was going mad
I thought I saw something moving
When I turned everything was just fine
But then I caught a strange shape on the edge of my sight
I felt my sanity begin to decline
So I headed back to the front door
And all I saw outside
Was endless fire and smoke and steam
I started to realize
It wasn't a dream
I walked up to a bellhop
And asked if he could help me understand
He said, "They're scraping what's left of you off of Rte. 70
This isn't the trip that you planned!"
Such a strange place, the Death's Head Casino
It was the luckiest I've ever been
Kept on winning no matter what I played
But a bad feeling was sinking in
I won chips at every table
Was the craziest day I ever had
But the things I thought I saw out of the corner of my eye
Made me think that I was going mad
So here I am at the Death's Head Casino
I've got more chips than I could ever hold
I've been here for such a long, long time
So many years, but I never grow old
For a few weeks during March
Decided on a Saturday morning
To drive and see the St. Louis Arch
Should take only 5 or 6 hours
