The Old Me

He found me on my knees
Waiting to die
But the devil didn't want me
He said it wasn't my time

So I hit the road, I got in my car
Watching in the rearview as I broke and fell apart
My hands were shaking as I turned the key
But when I drove away I said goodbye to what was left of me

R.I.P
R.I.P to the old me

I'm doing much better now
But the past had a vicious hold
I wanted to let go but I didn't know how
The rage was so hard to control

I wasn't naïve enough to think it'd be easy
But I didn't think it'd be this hard
I'm so damn proud of who I grew up to be –
Now I can give myself the love that I need

R.I.P
R.I.P to the old me
