One day he looked at her and smiled
Her rosy cheeks, her hair untamed and wild
He said, Remember when we first met so long ago?
And she said, I thought I'd never forget
The way you looked and the way you spoke
She says, The sky remains the same but the world beneath is broke

That day they left and took the car
A bag of books and some pictures from their life
He said, Remember when we swam naked in that lake
And she said, That's the day I said I'd be your wife
He thinks, She's older now but she's still got that flame
She says, The world outside is changing but the sky remains the same
She says, The sky remains the same

When they got to the lake they took off their clothes
Swam away from the bay, kicking off with their toes
Take a look at the sky as the sunset grows
But nobody knows

They have a son who lives in London
He has a flat and a boyfriend, so they've heard
And they know he's happy there with his boyfriend and his job
He works for some company, a bank or something they've inferred
But they think - think about him each night

The next day they boarded a train to Kings Cross
Called from a phone box to a number they'd copied down
The son was living with the boy in a small flat
Somewhere near the market street in Camden Town
When they arrived he said, I'm glad you came
She says, People come and go but the sky remains the same

That night they went out, they found a little bar
Chatted all about life, where they'd got so far
Walked home in the rain underneath the stars
And nobody knows

The next year they all meet up for dinner
The son and the boyfriend, they're getting married soon they said

The honeymoon is paid for by the parents
A week with a car and nothing much to do
He said, I remember my parents talking about swimming naked in a lake somewhere
And he says, That's the sort of thing I'd like to do with you
And he looks to him and he says his name
