Death of a Friend

I don't try to revive the old woman
After all I know it's never worked out
I'd love to say I was wise in my doubt
But I just don't want to be hurt again

The old woman should die dignified
So I won't try in vain
Better to just sigh
Better to cry from her sad bedside

Could you see I'd given up the right to breathe
In exchange for a few seconds of sleep

I know it shouldn't really matter to me
The old woman is drawing her last breath
But deep down I wish she'd evade death
And maybe for once she stay with me

But I let her die
Like I let myself die
I even scream at her and try to laugh
The tears stall; It hurts to even try

Could you see I'd given up the right to breathe
In exchange for a few seconds of sleep

Just as I'm to accept I'm just some guy
I must equally accept that I will never be
More than a lonely old locked up whore
Something childish something unloveable
