Blue And Gray

A man came to the park today
His sweater was blue and his hair was gray
And the way his -hthong dips
And his feminine hips
Made me ask how long he would stay

He said he wouldn't be here long
His voice cried out like a song
He had come a long way
From Cali-forn-i-a
But I could tell we'd get along

Well it was getting dark, so we left the park
And went together to the middle of town
And I asked him right there, as we stood in that square
Who he was, and he turned to me and frowned

He said "I come from a place that you could never dream of
And I've seen the destruction that I leave in my wake
And I hope someday that this might come to an end
But you may never know what's at stake"

I asked if California's that bad
Well, he just smiled and said he was glad
To live on the west coast
'Cause it's better than most
Other places that would drive him mad

He was born in a distant land
Before his life crumbled to sand
He was of another world
And the story unfurled
In two minutes in the palm of my hand

Well, as the night progressed, I felt the heart in my chest
Beat loud as the pounding of a funeral drum
And I asked him right there, as we stood in that square
Where he planned on going next

He said "I'm going to a place that you could never dream of
And I know it's destruction that I'll leave in my wake
And I hope and pray that this might come to an end
But I may never know what's at stake"

We stayed until the lights went down and darkness filled the place
And as the shadows hit his eyes, the smile dropped from his face
He had a pan-universal gaze and a voice full of command
He said
"if I didn't learn your nature, you would be dead where you stand"
"I'm a man on a mission for what I know is right
And I offer an invitation for you to join the fight
And one more question before I walk out that door
Do you even really know who it is that you're working for?"

Well it was getting dark as we went back to the park
And the frogs watched as we left the middle of town
And he told me right there Crea was his name
And he's just so glad I came

He said "we're going to a place that we could never dream of
And we know it's destruction that we'll leave in our wakes
And we hope and pray that this might come to an end
But we make never know what's at stake"

He said "we're going to a place that we could never dream of
(Take me with you, Crea!)
And we know it's destruction that we'll leave in our wakes
(I hope I'll see ya!)
And we hope and pray that this might come to an end
(I'm glad to go with ya!)
But we make never know what's at stake"

He said "we're going to a place that we could never dream of
(Blue and Gray!)
And we know it's destruction that we'll leave in our wakes
(What am I to say?)
And we hope and pray that this might come to an end
(No? Nay!)
But we make never know what's at stake"

He said "we're going to a place that we could never dream of
(Going to a place!)
And we know it's destruction that we'll leave in our wakes
(Know the stakes!)
And we hope and pray that this might come to an end
(No mistakes!)
But we make never know what's at stake"
