I remember night skies at the end of the day
The air touches your face. Everything is ok
Each sunrise since brings another heatwave
But that makes no sense cause last weekend it rained
We sleep in in the morning and we're starving by nine
I've got my AC running on 75
There's no time to try and relate
I've got work till late and I need to get paid 'cause

I'm just trying to get by
But you say the world is going to die

Today I woke up with a nervous itch
The next plague in the news is the newest glitch
Water and oil are ready to switch
But the whole wide world won't hear that pitch
The power shuts down from winter ice
Before the summer breaks in with record highs
There's no change or consequence
As the poor pay for it and the rich stay rich

I'm just trying to get by
But they say the world is going to die
And we're the sacrifice
That power can afford to buy

We trade each hour for societal lies
That we can keep these comforts while staying alive
If we keep on storming ahead
While the world's still burning then we'll all be dead
