Messy Little Creature

Izzy wandered up to me at 3 am
Asked if he could bum a single cigarette
I said, "I've got two more, would you wanna sit
And chat a little?" And that's how Izzy and I met

Izzy said he's got a girl waiting back home
But to Seattle he had run away and flown
Cause his girl had said they were three not two
Izzy turned to me and asked, "What would you do?"

I said, "I don't quite know why
But these words come to mind..."

Am I ascending? How does one know?
Or am I just pretending like I know how this goes?
Just a messy little creature, going with the flow

I said, "I don't really know what I'd do
But it doesn't really matter cause I'm not you
In matters of the heart, I believe it's due
To ask what you're scared of and is it true."

Izzy didn't wanna cry but he wiped a tear from his eye
As he said he didn't wanna mess up his baby's life
The way his parents did for him and his brothers too
I said, "Maybe the pain, can stop with you."

Then Izzy remembered he was meant to meet
A friend up on 3rd Avenue and Mercer Street
As Izzy walked away, we waved goodbye
And that's how I met Izzy in the morning night

And I said, "I don't quite know why
But these words come to mind..."
