Fish ‘N’ Chip Supper

He bought her a fish 'n' chip supper
For what he had done in the day
But the smell was too much
So he opened them up
And finished them off on the way

She'd lit them a candle
She'd turned on the oven
She'd laid out the forks and the plates
But he'd demolished that grub
And in the spirit of true love
Turned up with two of his mates

And we're all walkin' back to our lovers
Back to a husband or wife
Holdin' onto fish 'n' chip suppers
And clingin' onto dear life
They'vе done it before
They'll do it again
Forever they're put in this fix
Out in the pub with salt of the earth
Or back to their partner with chips

He'd bought her a nice bunch of flowers
So sorry for what he had done
But by the third pub he stopped
The heads had broke off
And the best of intentions had gone

She'd cancelled appointments
For doin' her hair
Her nails and yoga as well
Then he turns up at door at 20 past 4
And this be the story he tell

And we're all walkin' back to our lovers
Back to a husband or wife
Holdin' onto fish 'n' chip suppers
And clingin' onto dear life
They've done it before
They'll do it again
Forever they're put in this fix
Out in the pub with salt of the earth
Or back to their partner with chips

He set out this morning for flowers
He stopped at the chippy as well
Until Albert, Victoria, William and
George all broke the romantic spell

And we're all walkin' back to our lovers
Back to a husband or wife
Holdin' onto fish 'n' chip suppers
And clingin' onto dear life
They've done it before (Done it before)
They'll do it again (Do it again)
Forever they're put in this fix
Out in the pub with salt of the earth
Or back to their partner with chips
