With how this album intersected with you
It's a highest honor to be that band for y'all

I want to thank all the incredible friends and heroes
And musicians that reinterpreted these songs
And gave those to us as a gift
Whether it's Tyler from Twenty One Pilots
Or Jon Bellion, or The Jonas Brothers
Or Ryan from OneRepublic
Or Colony House
Or Relient K

To me this album will forever be
The album of a scrappy band from San Diego
Who came up to LA and recorded this thing in a week and a half
And against all odds got signed to a major label
Flew to New York for the first time to play for the major label

And the guy in the big tall building
Maybe the corresponding building
To the building you were working at in LA
The New York version
The guy who decides what the major label
Likes and doesn't like
He heard 1.5 of our songs
And he said "I hate it they're dropped"

The gift that that was to us
The unexpected gift
Is that this album represents y'all
Because, yes
Let me see that thing
This is the vinyl version of
The CD that y'all burned and passed around to each other
And against all odds brought it to double platinum
Or some crazy number
