Armed Services

It's a scary time to be alive now
Everything is so expensive; how
Am I supposed to get a good degree
Without spiraling into debt forever
I know that there is only one group that will
Help me get my academic fill
But they ask for years of my life in exchange
I don't know that I could be

Armed services
Armed services
Maybe the Coast Guard or the Space Force
Go abroad and fight somebody else's wars
Let violent nature take its course
Serve for seven or eight tours
In armed services

I can try to give us the life we want
Cause my love is an ever-flowing font
But my bank account can't be quite the same
Without spiraling into debt forever
But I know in my heart if I enlist
So many moments with you will just be missed
It's so tough to leave you for even a day
I don't know that I could be

Armed services
Armed services
Maybe the Marines or the Air Force
Go abroad and fight somebody else's wars
Let violent nature take its course
Serve for seven or eight tours
In armed services

I could die with high probability
And there's more than financial stability
Even the possibility of some future hostility holds no nobility for me
I say now with humility
I have not the ability to provide some utility at sea

And another thing: I worry about my mind
After taking life what will be left to find
Will I get the mental help I need
Without spiraling into debt forever
In short there's so many reasons I should say no
My every fiber screams at me to get up and go
But society tells me there's no other way
Sign me up, I guess I'll be

Armed services
Armed services
Maybe the Army Engineering Corps
Go abroad and fight somebody else's wars
Let violent nature take its course
Serve for seven or eight tours
In armed services
