Moving Directions

Hmm hmm hmm
So the other day I was uh
Watching a documentary with my brother and my mum
And it was about uh, society
And you know, we're moving in this direction that wants to be progressive and I love that
Don't get me wrong
I mean, I'm part of that group that wants that most
But uh, sometimes it just gets so confusing
So uh, I wrote a song about it

Sitting back watching TV
Tryna soak up everything
Don't wanna say something wrong
Otherwise we might not get along

Know what it's like to hide in parts
Without giving away who you are
Honestly these days you can't run far
Without telling the people who you are

Moving in directions that keeps people from reflections
Erasing the past to make a new start
No longer thinking about their marks
We just tell them that they're not apart

Uh
Sitting back watching TV (TV)
Start to feel it creeping
Can't figure out if I was born wrong
Or whether it's others spinnin' their songs

Every side has a part to voice
Where they have come from
But there has to be some consistency
And we've gotta start listening

So uh, what I guess I'm tryna say here is
Can we all just stop confusing things?
Like, it's confusing
Whenever I'm out in public and I, I just don't wanna have to censor what I can and can't say
We need to keep communication open
And you know, we can go back and change our perspectives later, that's important
But we're all here just tryna do our best and that's all we can do
So let's just keep doing it
