Every Summer

I come back every summer, drop a few gems
My sleep is restless till I go and bag a few M's
Had to change the frequency and I'm not talking FM
Still chasing where I need to be
No shortcuts or sneak a peaks
I know this road is long, the toll of living decently
I seen my pop wake up at 4am, return at 10pm
That's 7 days a week just to give us a place to sleep
I never take this shit for granted
A rose in the concrete when I was planted
I talk to God every night bout how he planned it

Be it in my path, then it's God's way
Be it that I'm a vessel, then listen to what I say
I look up to the Lord whenever I need to find strength
He always pick up the phone
I got his contact as Yahweh
And if you lost, then follow that way
I've been lost so many times, like the GPS had gave up
You only survive so many times, if you from where I came up
I could tell you so many stories about the ones who changed up
Or about the stray bullets who hit the ones who never saw
Where it came from, stay armed and dangerous
That's what I really mean when I tell my dogs to be safe
Cause if you not involved and you made it out with a clean slate
The streets could eat you whole
And have you sleeping in a dream state
This shit is unpredictable when you got nothing to lose
That's why I'm checkin' over my shoulder when I'm passing through
I wish it wasn't true
