The Covid Song

People always said things aren't like they used to be
But that holds true even more for you and me
It feels like the world became a global horror flick
When that virus unleashed, and everybody got sick

Quietly crossing the globe, cases weren't clear
Back when it first began, late in 2019
When the world found out the following year
Everything shut down while we focused on our hygiene

Scientists called it a Coronavirus strain
All I know is that it caused a lot of pain
Covid is the worst sickness that I ever got
And it's here to stay whether we like it or not

Businesses shut down, employees fled
"Don't meet each other," all the leaders said
Governments urged folks to stay inside
They basically wanted us to go and hide

Couldn't go out and play sports, couldn't go out and dine
If you wanted to see your friends, it had to be online

Scientists called it a Coronavirus strain
All I know is that it caused a lot of pain
Covid is the worst sickness that I ever got
And it's here to stay whether we like it or not

Everyone got sick and a lot of people died
You and I were so lucky that we survived
We finally fought our way through it and then
Evolving variant strains made everyone sick again

When regulations lightened, they said to leave some space
We had to socially distance and put a mask upon our face
As far as global pandemics, Covid is just one more
The previous big one was a hundred years before

Scientists called it a Coronavirus strain
All I know is that it caused a lot of pain
Covid is the worst sickness that I ever got
And it's here to stay whether we like it or not

The deadliest pandemic will forever leave a stamp
But behold the sasquatch, he's the social distance champ
