Winter

As I looked out
The withered window
I heard the stormy wind go up
On a cold
Snowy winter
And through the glass
The water dripping
I know you must be waiting
For the sound of spring
Like you always do
But remember me
When the rains settle down
When the lights shine endlessly
And the leaves grow out
When the birds on the branches
Whistle
I'll close my eyes and listen
I'll watch the sunrise come again
I woke up early
Put on my sweater
No sunlight
Oh, cloudy weather
And a gentle breeze
Over my head
Shuddered through Broadway
Sixty-fifth
Oh, maybe you could be my glint
Of morning light
Like you always are
But remember me
When the rains settle down
When the lights shine endlessly
And the leaves grow out
When the birds on the branches
Whistle
I'll close my eyes and listen
I'll watch the sunrise come again
