Simple Dreams
If you only tell wishes to candles
Those dreams will soon fade like the smoke
Instead of counting on stars
He followed his heart cause he knows
A good dream takes work
And so he went to college
To find a career that he liked
He took many hard classes and
Spent many sleepless nights
He said
I want a white picket fence
And a garden that grows
And kids, maybe two or three
I want to love my best friend
Have a job that fits a family
And we'll enjoy the little things
And it might sound simple
But that's the life for me
In between classes and work
A beautiful girl caught his eye
They started dating each other
A wonderful year passed and then
The girl said goodbye
It was first dates again
And frustration finding someone new
It took him more time
But he finally opened his heart
To the girl he wanted for life
He asked her
Do you want a white picket fence
And a garden that grows
And kids, maybe two or three
I still have three years of school
And I don't have much money
But we can live happily
It might sound simple but
Will you share this life with me
His dreams didn't just happen
He went through troubles and strife
But he made them happen
He had to work for his life
Of white picket fences
And gardens that grow
And raising a family
His life isn't perfect
But he likes where it's going
And he is happy
He's still working hard
Cause it's only the start
And he is content
Because he lives his dream
Those dreams will soon fade like the smoke
Instead of counting on stars
He followed his heart cause he knows
A good dream takes work
And so he went to college
To find a career that he liked
He took many hard classes and
Spent many sleepless nights
He said
I want a white picket fence
And a garden that grows
And kids, maybe two or three
I want to love my best friend
Have a job that fits a family
And we'll enjoy the little things
