The Earth Revolved Around The Sun Again
The earth revolved around the sun again, and all remained as it ever was
Unfazed by time's hand
Shadows seem to disappear
And my shadow left awhile ago
The stars blinked in their ancient dance, silent witness to our endless woe
Yet in the stillness of the night, echoes of mediocrity ensue
For though the days may circle round, in the heart, a fire grows cold
And all that's left is the memory of a shadow I once had
(Thinking about times gone)
Scoring goals after dribbling past entire teams
Rushing underneath tables at my uncles wedding
The look in his beautiful eyes when I told him I loved how he dressed
Or when I didn't kiss her on the first snowfall of winter
The sun reflecting on her beautiful light brown hair
Or tracing her delicate hands against mine
Of those I sat in the arboretum for hours
Guiding various Coleoptera down my chest in the gardens
Shaking the habitual
Shaking the core
Slips through my fingers
Yet I stood still
Stood still and found no echo in return
Stood still while the trail shifts and bends and warps and contorts
Stood still while two people talk in a foreign language in my room
Stood still while max roach plays intricate drum parts at 4 in the morning
Stood still while sirens scream at me when I'm focusing on things I have to do
Stood still while consonant turns dissonant
(And I don't know what to do)
Unfazed by time's hand
Shadows seem to disappear
And my shadow left awhile ago
The stars blinked in their ancient dance, silent witness to our endless woe
Yet in the stillness of the night, echoes of mediocrity ensue
For though the days may circle round, in the heart, a fire grows cold
And all that's left is the memory of a shadow I once had
(Thinking about times gone)

The look in his beautiful eyes when I told him I loved how he dressed

Of those I sat in the arboretum for hours
Guiding various Coleoptera down my chest in the gardens

Stood still while sirens scream at me when I'm focusing on things I have to do
Stood still while consonant turns dissonant
