Amsterdam

I look at that photograph
And see a silent movie
And I feel the same
No matter how long ago it was
On the canal, on the bare asphalt
Dangling our feet bravely over the water
With strawberries, wine, and bread
We waited together for the sun to set

And we walked hand in hand for a long time
Along the facades of gingerbread houses
I always felt calm with you
And we often laughed until we had cramps
This city is one of our favorites
We must have been there at least five times
I can't find any equals
Artists gave their souls to it

There's Van Gogh, ships, and water
Rain is the criterion of any season
Wires run along the winding streets
There's no other place with such a miracle
Coffeeshops, the red lights
Also became part of the story
But we'll remember that not in a song
Without any allegory

And we walked hand in hand for a long time
Along the facades of gingerbread houses
I always felt calm with you
And we often laughed until we had cramps
This city is one of our favorites
We must have been there at least five times
I can't find any equals
Artists gave their souls to it
