Thrift Store Sweater

My heart's a thrift store sweater, thats strup is still worn
Its been through the wash too many times, so the treads a little torn
I'm the look with dogeared pages from being read out in the rain
The ink runs down like tears, but the story still remains

Until the storm rolls in, a hundred mile winds
Go ahead and grab some popcorn before the show begins
And I'm dancing like a scarecrow in a hurricane
Spinning wild, arms out stretched, bracing for the change
Yeah, life's a circus and I'm the clown
A smile hiding my distain
Hoping for the eye to come, and leave some things the same
Don't try to fight it, yeah, it's just a little rain

I'm a VHS in a digital world, a little bit out of date
Rewinding memories and pausing on the moments
That felt a bit like fate
I'm a kaleidoscope of 'what if's' and 'could've been's'
Colours blending together in patterns that seem to never end

Until the storm rolls in, a hundred mile winds
Go ahead and grab some popcorn before the show begins
And I'm dancing like a scarecrow in a hurricane
Spinning wild, arms out stretched, bracing for the change
Yeah, life's a circus and I'm the clown
A smile hiding my distain
Hoping for the eye to come, and leave some things the same
Don't try to fight it, yeah, it's just a little rain

And I'm dancing like a scarecrow in a hurricane
Spinning wild, arms out stretched, bracing for the change
Yeah, life's a circus and I'm the clown
A smile hiding my distain
Hoping for the eye to come, and leave some things the same
Don't try to fight it, yeah, it's just a little rain
