After The Sun

I guess today is what they used to call the future
Gravity can bring you down if you're not attuned
And my coordinates show me drifting into darkness
Halfway between the face of God and the cold side of the moon

There was a time we used to climb the mountains
And we couldn't help but to follow them out West
Now the cowboys they ride a tin can in the sky
And our campfire is a sun that never sets

You know beneath the sun there's nothing new
Yet beyond, you still drag your years behind you
And before that curtain call, a step is placed before us all
Where a giant leap is all that could pull through
While you and I stand bare with everyone
What comes after the sun?

I guess today is what they used to call the future
Just how far this ride will go, who could know
Maybe all of this could have come to us a little sooner
We just hope there's a story to tell, before it's time to go

You know beneath the sun there's nothing new
Yet beyond, you still drag your years behind you
And before that curtain call, a step is placed before us all
Where a giant leap is all that could pull through
While you and I stand bare with everyone
What comes after the sun?

Lost a long ways away from anywhere, but the unknown
From the memories that once we held to bring us home
In a careless glide, we slide across the stars
Heels tumbling over the handlebars below

Now the cowboys they ride a tin can in the sky
And our campfire is a sun that never sets

You know beneath the sun there's nothing new
Yet beyond, you still drag your years behind you
And before that curtain call, a step is placed before us all
Where a giant leap is all that could pull through
While you and I stand bare with everyone
What comes after the sun?
