Found Myself In Central Park

Manhattan rushed against me, and the crowds just made me lonely
As I made my way through Times Square heading north
I saw a tourist hand her baby to a grimy costumed Elmo
In the street, all for a tacky photo op
I used to recognize myself in gritty places
But today I couldn't see me on map
Until I made a right turn at Columbus Circle
And I found myself again in Central Park

I was a child, and I was dreaming as I waited on a blanket
With my family to see Shakespeare In The Park
A man selling Sangria, sang his operatic pitch
My father listened as it started to get dark
What I'd give to raise a glass right now with him
To tell him that I'm still remembering
And that he's etched on every sidewalk in this city
And that I found myself again in Central Park

Hey NYC,
I know I'm only one of many souls who claim you in their heart
But hey NYC
I think it's true that you might still remember me
Because I found myself, I found myself
I found myself again in Central Park

Every year we bring our kids here and they feel it in their bones
They know this town will always them as its own
From the highline to the theatres they will arrive from far and wide
And like before, this town will always feel like home
They're gonna forge their own fantastic city stories
And they'll stamp their unique imprints on the map
And then they'll make a right turn at Columbus Circle
And they'll find themselves again in Central Park

Hey NYC,
I know I'm only one of many souls who claim you in their heart
But hey NYC
I think it's true that you might still remember me
Because I found myself, I found myself
I found myself again in Central Park
