Island night

That island night you slept in peace, and I just read the paper
It didn't matter what I did, as long as you were there
I touched your hair,
I stroked your curves, your presence made my insides purr
If happiness there ever was, twas is and ever will be thus

Your brunette hips the main event, a pure unsullied focus
Nothing else to worry on, I knew I'd found my calling
To stare at you, to feel your love, that was my only task
And when you wake, to start again, our bodies join all over

Because these moments don't come often
Because our whole lives push towards them
And they're a guide for repetition
But careful not too close

That island night you slept in peace, and I just read the paper
It didn't matter what I did, as long as you were there
And when you're done you're dirty clean, and in need of a rest
We get some drinks go to the bed, and lie and drink and talk

Because these moments don't come often
Because our whole lives push towards them
And they're a guide for repetition
But careful not too close

Now I sit in my front room, a bigger island rock now
How many young ignoble fools have left their feeble hearts there?
I have my books my notes my sounds, the past, the present and you
You left your mark, your summer scent, and right now that's enough
