The Princess and the Knight
Long ago and far away
There lived a princess
Who dreamed of something more
She dreamed of something more
Staring out of the window view
She saw the knight coming closer
He came for her, she already knew
Her beloved, here to hold her
Wearing her pretty green dress
She ran down the stairs to meet him
He asked for marriage, she said yes
Happily, ever after happens on a whim
The knight was brave
She was not afraid
But was this what she really wanted?
This wasn't what she wanted
The princess gave him a drink
The princess gave him a drink
She mixed in something strong
He fell fast asleep within a blink
She put on his armor and ran along
On his horse she rode, holding his sword
Leading the horse, they galloped far
To the dragon she ran toward
She didn't want her beloved to fall
The princess and the knight
Was to live happily ever after
She tricked him to save his life
Would he wake up and realize
Realize she was gone
Taking his armor to fight
Riding to the cave beyond
To slay the dragon that night
The princess rode on
Untill morning came
She came to a cave
A loud roar came from inside
She was going inside
It was dark, she couldn't see
Holding the candle for light
She entered and went beneath
Hands clenching the sword tight
Into the dark earth she went
Holding her breath locked in her chest
Spiraling downward in her descent
She took a breath, hoping to do her best
The dragon was there
Sleeping, snoring loudly
She walked slowly toward him
Sword held high, ready to strike
She was ready to strike
One dragon eye opened to see her
The candle fell, his mouth opened wide
She gasped, raising the sword further
With his tongue, he knocked her aside
The princess fell and hit the wall
The helmet knocked off with ease
The dragon puffed out a fireball
He squinted his eyes, displeased
The princess and the knight
Was to live happily ever after
She tricked him to save his life
Would he wake up and realize
Realize she was gone
Taking his armor to fight
Riding to the cave beyond
To slay the dragon that night
The princess stood
The dragon stared
Was she brave
No, she must've been crazy to fight him
She was crazy to fight him
The dragon questioned why she was there
She gasped, him talking was a surprise
He asked if she had any fear
She said she was there to save her knight
This isn't a fairy tale, he told her
There was a wrong and a right
She thought she came to save another
But she didn't need to fight
The princess ashamed
Cut her long golden hair
Gave it to the dragon
And to him she apologized
She apologized to him
He added her hair to his stash of gold
She bowed and bided him farewell
Live your life freely, he proposed
She understood now, this wasn't a fairy tale
Off she went, back to her castle
Where her knight was still asleep
She wanted no more battles
Happily, ever after was hers to keep
The princess and the knight
Was to live happily ever after
She tricked him to save his life
Would he wake up and realize
Realize she was gone
Taking his armor to fight
Riding to the cave beyond
To slay the dragon that night
The princess returned
Her knight was safe
The dragon was happy
She no longer dreamed of more
She wanted nothing more
Long ago and far away
There lived a princess
Who dreamed of nothing more
She dreamed of nothing more
The princess and the knight
Was to live happily ever after
