Green

We saw a couple kissing on the street
Celia said, "Aww, isn't that sweet?"
We sat in traffic in her old truck
They stood on the corner looking stuck

It made us hot, but something was wrong
Their lips and arms were locked
In an embrace a little bit too long
The light stayed red
Then Celia said "I think they're breaking up"

The mood changed instantly
I looked at Celia, she looked angry
Some girls are happy so long as they are right
Celia was a different type

I wished there was a way
That we could trade
Celia could punch the gas
While they stayed right there sucking face
Instead they cast one parting glance
Then tore in two and turned around
And headed down the street
Each going on their separate way

It's always the guy, who looks back
"How would you know?" Celia laughed
Because that's how I've spent my life
She rolled her eyes
That's just the kind of girl you like

"Look back" I yelled. He turned his head
"Not you, her!" I begged, but he did it again
Too late for him to see, she snuck a peek quickly
Just as the light turned green
