Troubadour (Violet)

In my dream, we went to London
And we played at the Troubadour -
Coloured kettles, hanging candles
And the bell above the door
But so much more

And we sang a song for others -
Other lovers, friends and balladeers
Our glasses clinking, I was thinking
Why can't we just stay here?

And you could say, "It's all just another night away
There'll be others come to stay
Other dreams and other ways"
And you might wonder whether we would ever change
Or be the same as we take this stage again

In my dream, an old museum
Made us want to turn back time
We danced along the street lamps
You lit me up with every smile

We didn't know where we were going
But we were singin' in the rain
Under cloudless skies
The ground beneath our feet reflecting light

And you could say, "It's all just another night away"
There'll be others come to stay
Other dreams in other ways
And every time I sit and wonder, should I wait
For this better weather day
To sweep us both away?

In my dream, we went to London
And we played at the Troubadour
If you had heard what I heard
You wouldn't ask me anymore

Why I feel the light is changing
I can't un-see this point of view
That I have come to know
When I say dream, I really just mean you

And you could say, "It's all just another night away"
There'll be others come to stay
Other dreams in other ways
And you might wonder whether we would ever change
Or be the same as we take this stage again

In my dream, we stay in London
And we play at the Troubadour -
Coloured kettles, hanging candles
And the bell above the door
But so much more
So much more
