Mutual Assured Destruction

There's a hopeful happy feeling spreading throughout our land
It seems to me that we all agree that peace is near at hand
The Army needs just a few more tanks the Navy needs another submarine
The Air Force needs some more H bombs to keep us all supreme

And all across the ocean the Russians were doing the same
And if some nut pushes the button there'll be nobody left to blame

Well these people down in Washington they are the powers to be
They said they'll put the axes to taxes yeah but this I've yet to see
Well somewhere in your city yeah well somewhere in your town
Another little baby goes to bed hungry
So they can buy another rifle round

Well the leaders of our country
They say we got to keep the nation strong
Taking food off our dinner table so they can buy another atom bomb
The idle rich they scream and bitch about the man in the welfare line
But when it comes to paying up those taxes
You know they never pay a dog gone dime
