The Wizard
In the forest where the roads don't go
Lived a weary wizard all alone
Mixing potions and his tonics too
Trying to make gold with every brew
Then one night the fiercest flood had came
Every formula had washed away
Desperate he turned to the darkest tomes
Filled with magic only evil knows
He cried out with a summoning spell
A demon rose from beneath the well
So pronounced was the wizard's pain
He was offered up a simple exchange
All the gold he could ever dream
For his life's most important thing
Without question he signed his name
Not knowing there would be hell to pay
The wizard woke once the deal was done
Turned around to search for what was gone
Still remained his life's important things
Plus a heavy bag of golden rings
Two years later with his wealth in hand
He built the tallest cabin in the land
Set his sights on love and found a wife
Made their vows under the starry lights
He prayed to God the demon wouldn't take
His only love for his past mistakes
But his wife stayed alive and well
The wizard hoped he averted hell
Four years later she bore a child
The flesh and blood of borrowed time
In his cabin they lived like kings
Not knowing what the future would bring
Six years later from that fateful day
The demon finally came to stake his claim
The wizard's most important thing in life
The man jumped up to shield his wife and child
He begged and pleaded all could hear his cries
But no words could change the demon's mind
With a spell the wizard's body tore
Into a horrid monster he transformed
His bones bent backward as he writhed
Like a beast bloodlust in his eyes
'Cause his life's most important thing
Wasn't wife or child it was his sanity
He turned his gaze to his love so sweet
With a mouth full of sharpened teeth
Filled with terror she ran with haste
Child in hand she left him to his fate
In the forest where nobody goes
Lives a wizard that still haunts its roads
A wicked smile and a staff of oak
Holding up what's left of his cracked bones
He spends his days at the wishing well
Mixing potions that won't make him well
All the riches in the world won't quell
A life of pain from a deal with hell
Lived a weary wizard all alone
Mixing potions and his tonics too
Trying to make gold with every brew
Then one night the fiercest flood had came
