Smoke Bath

So I'll fade out of the gray
Not the way that I'd gone in
There were layers that were burned
Things were lost

So I'll look at what I have
Know the birth that fire brings
Come to thank the burns and stings
For their healing touch

But it's fine
I'm learning all the time
There's no moving forward
'Til you walk into the fire

Burn off who you've been
Pieces of yourself
Watch them as they burn
Be sure you aren't attached
Toss them and then turn
Future isn't black
Maybe you will miss them
Never want them back

Know it's pretty different
Choice is pretty simple
Burn them here and now or
Soon enough go with them

So I'll pack up all that's left
Know that birth by fire's true
That the traits that it had claimed
Were hurting me
So I'll pick up somewhere else
Just can't be where I left off

And it changed my wants

But it's fine
I'll go from time to time
To the mirror with the brush
And paint myself with fire
Burn away the worst
Could be my favorite things
