The Village
I remember the days
We would run around down London street
Felt like we had everything
saw the whole world on the corner seats
Careless carefree throwing eggs at the bus just to thrill seek
Growing up in the village
where the streets shared stories like a news feed
People traded soul in for spirits next thing they'd become a fein
Single parent households often was the way and a common theme
Kindergarten kids grew up stayed friends till they're 70
Everyone knew everyone
& Noone ever talked to police
Village had a lot of love
still harboured a lot of pain
Suicide was prevelant
per capita the highest rate
Plenty kids that never grew
Plenty kids that never aged
People never really left
Tend to circle around the way
8 pubs 1 Block
Locals drank
safe to say
Easy to get tangled up
even easier to lose your way
A lot of independent freedom
Handed to a boy at a younger age
Spotlight at the graveyard
Bullrush just above the main
(I remember)
Growing up in my hometown
Lotta love lotta pain
What comes will go round
Voices fade but some stay so loud
Everything's changed tho that I'm grown now
Village full of soul I know my hometown
Lotta love lotta pain
What comes will go round
Voices fade but some stay so loud
Everything's changed tho that I'm grown now
That's the village
Still got day one friends
Kept it tight through all the years
Jumped over fences
Graduated in the golden chair
Most of us are parents now
Reminiscing on the younger days
Setting an example
one the older generation couldn't make
But looking back now
I'm thankful for community
Shared many laughs
Earned enough scars for eternity
Remember robbing Russians For their supermarket groceries
Driving round in a hot box
dad's liquor stashed under seat
Violence Settled Old school
Man to man out on the street
Everyone knew your business
Knew everybody's family
Gossip was a pass time
People loved just starting beef
Rumor spread like wild fire
Burning through the cemetery
Gutters blocked in heavy rain
Through the tunnel to the underneath
Blue and gold blood in our veins
Pubs and sailors full of dreams
Waterside Born and raised
Blood and sweat paved under feet

Ain't no place that I'd rather be
That's the village
Growing up in my hometown
Lotta love lotta pain
What comes will go round
Voices fade but some stay so loud
Everything's changed tho that I'm grown now
Village fulla soul I know my hometown
Lotta love lotta pain
What comes will go round
Voices fade but some stay so loud
