Against the Dragon

Far to the north
In an age of heroes and legends
A fell creature preys upon innocent souls
And after a century spent in fear and darkness
A council of valiant knights assembles
To decide the fate of the realm

For too long the serpent
Has feasted on the flesh of men
The time has come to storm the dragon's lair

Summon all the knights
Who are loyal to the crown
By nightfall the wyrm shall be slain
Fear not your death
For you will rise again in glory
The darkness must flee to the light
At dawn we ride
The wyrm shall be slain
Ride forth for glory toward the dragon's den
Our deeds shall live on in the tales of our kin

The wyrm picked up our scent
Before we reached its cave
It took toward the skies
As we drew our shining blades
Its breath was crimson flame
And many died that day
But the Lord gave us our victory
And the fearsome beast was slain

Forever the serpent shall rest upon the castle walls
Its severed head mounted above the gates

Glory to the knights who were loyal to the crown
By nightfall the dragon was slain
Mourn not the dead
For they will rise again in glory
The darkness must flee to the light
At dawn we ride

And so peace was restored to the land
And the memory of those brave heroes kept alive in song
Until the unmaking of the world
