Preacher

I was a man of the Lord
I spoke in the Lords name
I wore a collar around my neck
I kept the light of the Lord aflame
I tended to my flock as a good shepard to his lambs
But when the Wolf came over the mountain
Well our Lord didn't give a damn

Many a husband
Many a wife
Torn asunder, eaten alive
Many a daughter
Many a son
Cut down before their lives had barely begun

So I gathered up my people
I tended to them best I could
We prayed there in our chapel
But our prayers they were no good
One by one the congregation left me
Till I was stood there alone upon that altar
I looked down at my bloodied bible
That was when I started to falter

Many a husband
Many a wife
Torn asunder, eaten alive
Many a daughter
Many a son
Cut down before their lives had barely begun

It was in that moment I knew what the Lord needed done
So I threw away my collar and I went and fetched my gun
Now I roam these old trails in search of those who fled
And anywhere I find them they quickly wind up dead.

Many a husband
Many a wife
I have torn asunder, I have eaten alive
Many a daughter
Many a son
I have cut down before their lives had barely begun

Get down on your knees
now
Pray and repent
The wolves are always heaven sent
